Displaying Your Photos: 3 Different Ways
As much fun as it is taking photos, it can be easy to forget one of the most important reasons we take photos in the first place -- to look at and enjoy them! With practically everything done on a computer, smart phone, or tablet these days, our memories can get lost in a digital wasteland. Let this serve as another reminder for you to print your photos and display them where they can be treasured every day. This is the last post in my series on organizing your photos! I talked here about how much I love Mpix and how super simple their service is to use!
Now, without further ado, here are a few ways you can give your precious, newly printed images the limelight.
1. Group Your Photos
Use a mantel or shelf and display your photos with other objects. You can use books, candles (be sure you're doing so safely), flowers, plants, your awesome vintage camera collection, mementos from a special time, or be a bit more minimal and let your images speak for themselves.
2. Create a Gallery Wall
As a professional photographer, I obviously love an impactful gallery wall. I suggest coming up with a theme when you design your gallery wall. Perhaps you'll use black-and-white photos only, group photos of the same color palette, or tell a story with photos of all the same subject or event (such as your children, or you and your partner's love story!). Gallery walls are another wonderful place to use personal memorabilia you may have laying around (like the first concert you attended as a married couple, or the program from your daughter's first ballet recital). You can do a simple search on Pinterest to garner some great tips for designing and installing gallery walls.
3. Choose a Meaningful Event
Piggybacking off of #2, sometimes you really, really want to remember a special occasion. Select a variety of photos from your wedding, your child's first year of life, or your family's continuing firsts: first home, first pet, firstborn, first day of school, first lost tooth, first school dance ... Photo albums are important, too, but believe me -- your family will notice how wonderful it feels to see you and themselves out in the open together.
There you have it! Three different ways to display your memories. What's your favorite way to showcase your photos?
